FEAST Global Supports New Hampshire Maple Industry at Buyers Mission

FEAST Global is proud to support our client, the New Hampshire Maple industry, as several new export suppliers from the industry engage in their first international buyer meetings during Food Export’s Summer in the Cities Buyers Mission in Boston from July 31 to August 1, 2024. This event, which has already secured a remarkable lineup of 15+ buyers from various countries, promises to be a cornerstone for connecting premium New Hampshire maple syrup with global markets and is an enthusiastic step forward in the industry’s implementation of their recently adopted strategic marketing plan, written by FEAST Global.

An International Stage for New Hampshire Maple

The Boston stop of Summer in the Cities is set to be a pivotal moment for New Hampshire Maple. Buyers from Aruba, Brazil, Chile, China, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Spain, Taiwan, and Vietnam are all eager to explore products ranging from breakfast foods and beverages to savory and sweet snacks, ready meals, and much more. This broad interest presents a unique opportunity to showcase the versatility and quality of New Hampshire maple syrup in a global context.

Last year’s Midwest Buyers Mission projected sales up to $17 million with 16 buyers. With 15+ buyers participating this year, expectations are high for significant success. The Boston stop, well-serviced and strategically located in the northeastern U.S., is anticipated to be a flagship event, laying the groundwork for future annual gatherings.

Broad Industry Participation

The excitement around New Hampshire Maple’s global expansion is evident, with six New Hampshire Maple suppliers participating. These range from bulk maple syrup and traditionally packaged New Hampshire Pure Maple Syrup to value-added products like maple popcorn, candies, cookies, infused syrups, sauces, and more. These companies represent a diverse range of suppliers from large-scale operations to smaller artisan creators.

This participation is a direct outcome of the strategic market analysis and planning project that FEAST Global conducted for the New Hampshire Maple industry, thanks to USDA’s Acer grant program. The project was so well received that the industry quickly and efficiently utilized the strategy to take advantage of opportunities such as the Summer in the Cities program.

Technical Assistance & Export Readiness

At FEAST Global, we don’t just write strategies; we aim to engage the entire industry to ensure broad participation and support in the expeditious implementation of the strategic plan. Our role in this mission included pre-event industry-specific technical assistance to the producers via a two-hour Zoom call that included export readiness checklists, training, and an extensive Q&A session directly related to the upcoming B2B meetings in Boston. We always want to ensure that suppliers are export-ready so that neither supplier, industry, export promotion funds, nor buyer time and resources are wasted because of a lack of readiness. For us, this includes training tailored to the industry or supplier type, basic salesmanship, an overview of financial tools including EXIM and CCC resources, as well as cultural etiquette. All of this is in addition to more traditional components of export readiness training such as market briefings and consumer trends. This holistic approach is crucial for the success of suppliers like those within New Hampshire Maple as they enter global markets in search of a profitable path for sustainability and growth, benefiting both their industry and the economy of New Hampshire.

For this activity, FEAST Global will also be on-site to provide in-the-moment technical support and assistance for the New Hampshire Maple suppliers so that maximum momentum can be achieved for the industry. Our roles will involve coaching suppliers and helping the industry collect data-based feedback from various buyers, which will help the industry continue to refine and improve their return on investment with future endeavors. FEAST Global’s involvement highlights our commitment to supporting our clients’ success internationally, ensuring that every interaction is an opportunity for growth and success.
