FEAST Global Heads to Colombia for USDA Agricultural Trade Mission
We are excited to announce our participation in the USDA Agricultural Trade Mission in Bogotá, Colombia, from August 12-15, 2024. This event is a prime opportunity to showcase our producers’ exceptional products to a vibrant and expanding market as part of our Latin America market initiatives.
Why Colombia Matters
Colombia is the largest South American market for U.S. agricultural products and a top destination for food and beverage exports. Since the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement in 2012, U.S. agricultural exports to Colombia have surged by 237%, reaching $3.7 billion in 2023. With a growing economy and changing consumer lifestyles, Colombia represents fertile ground for high-quality, diverse U.S. products.
After a recent visit on behalf of our clients in November 2023, and conducting our own internal analysis of Colombia’s demographics and consumer trends, as well as current Colombian import, regulatory, and labeling policies, we are convinced that Colombia is a “right now” market for U.S. suppliers, full of immense potential. During our November visit, we met with more than 30 different companies, conducted market research, and had a private briefing with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service post in the U.S. Embassy in Bogota.
Colombia presents an impressive opportunity for U.S. agribusinesses in several key sectors such as such as healthy foods especially claims based and no-sugar added value added products, distilled spirits, fine wines, artisan cheese, frozen fruits and vegetables, fine meats and healthy ingredients like ancient grains, tree nuts, among other categories. Suppliers have an opportunity to experience considerable sales success, perpetuated by leveraging resources like USDA’s Sabor USA promotions. These efforts are also likely to serve as a springboard to sales success in additional South American markets as well as neighboring Panama, another excellent growth market for U.S. products. All of these factors combine to make Colombia a strategic, high-leverage market for American suppliers.
FEAST Global’s Unique Value
While many are content to follow traditional paths, FEAST Global stands out by leveraging in-depth market knowledge and factoring a variety of data points with a strong network of in-country personal relationships not just with importers but with food manufacturers, retailers, foodservice distributors, resort and restaurant chefs and other channels to ensure an in-depth market understanding that takes multiple perspectives into consideration so that maximum results are achieved with international marketing investments. Our participation in the USDA Agricultural Trade Mission (ATM) is not just about showcasing products—it's about demonstrating to global buyers a commitment to provide them with access to the best quality products while helping our clients achieve their marketing and sales goals.
We don’t just follow established pathways; if new pathways are needed to increase results, you can count on us to build the road efficiently and effectively, with the highest level of integrity and regulatory compliance.
Strategic Engagement in Colombia
During the ATM and our extended itinerary in Colombia, FEAST Global will conduct business-to-business meetings with approximately twenty new potential importers over the course of two days, follow up with many existing buyer contacts face to face, participate in market briefings from USDA and in-country experts, and conduct retail and market research tours. Thirty-eight state agencies, state regional trade groups, USDA cooperators, and private U.S. agribusiness companies were selected to participate in the Colombia ATM. FEAST Global is honored to be selected and to have the opportunity to network with other industry experts as we each seek to advance new export sales and partnerships in Colombia.
Ultimately, our goal during this trip is to highlight the unique value of our client products, positioning them as top choices in a competitive market, and building relationships that ultimately lead to new export sales transactions.
